Melinda grew up surrounded by music, from her dad’s polka band to theater, select choir, college a cappella, and worship teams. She even performed the national anthem at the Bills Stadium. Fans of the local music scene may recognize her as one of the lead singers of Scarlett Oasis.
Now fronting Sugarstatic, she brings 90s alt edge with unapologetic sparkle. A true ray of sunshine with a rock-and-roll streak, she's been dreaming about a band like this with her husband Rick (the guy behind the drums) since the day they met, and now it's finally a reality.
Offstage, you'll find her spreading unicorn sparkle wherever she goes, cheering on the local music scene, or hanging out with Rick and their morkie, Stella.

Look back there on drums—it's Rick DeBellis!
Rick has been fortunate enough to be part of Rochester music history, performing with bands such as Hall Pass, Catch 22, Haywire, and Taran. Before that, he toured with the Sydneys, a Pittsburgh-based band, playing legendary clubs in New York City and Atlantic City, and recording in Niagara Falls and Toronto.
The '90s were filled with driving electronic loops layered alongside tightly recorded acoustic drums, and Rick brings both of those elements to the Rochester music scene with SUGARSTATIC. For years, he has wanted to perform the music of Alanis Morissette, Garbage, No Doubt, and many other iconic '90s artists with his wife Melinda (yes, she's the one singing up front). Now it's finally happening!
Rick is forever grateful for everything that came before, but he's incredibly excited about what the future holds for SUGARSTATIC!

Rich is the bassist and used to play in the band Rock Bottom back in the 90s. He is also a founding member of the internationally infamous The Mighty Flesh Pendulum and current bassist for Scarlett Oasis. His role is that of the band's token metalhead and yacht rock aficionado. If you can figure that out, explain it to him because he can't.

Funny, he plays like none of them.
A keyboardist and backup vocalist with over 25 years of experience in music education and performance, she loves bringing energy, harmony, and a great vibe to every show. Along with directing middle school musicals for much of her career, she has performed with bands including Krush, Adrenaline, Karma, Proper Villains and productions of Jesus Christ Superstar. Current projects include traveling with her fellow Segerettes in Brave Strangers and multiple other creative outlets. Whether it’s adding driving keys, supporting vocals, or connecting with the crowd, she is all about making great music and having fun on stage.
